Golden_Gate_1Golden Gate Biosphere Reserve – San Francisco, CA

The Golden Gate Biosphere Reserve is a project administered by Stanford University’s Jasper Ridge Biological Preserve under the auspices of UNESCO’s Man and the Biosphere Program. CA+A provided business planning, project design and management, and stakeholder alignment services in collaboration with the Golden Gate National Recreation Area, NOAA, Point Reyes National Seashore, Stanford University and other partners in creating the Reserve.

 


safiSafi Phosphate Hub – Safi, Morocco

In collaboration with Jacobs Engineering, Biomimicry 3.8, and In Site, CA+A provided project design and management services to a 5,000 acre Master Plan process for a new phosphate plant in Safi, Morocco. The aim is to incorporate as much ecological design in the master plan as possible leveraging insights gained from In Site’s site analysis approach and Biomimicry 3.8’s Genius of Place methodology.

 

 

doeUS Department of Energy | Advanced Manufacturing Program

In collaboration with New Horizon Technologies, CA+A completed a number of market research assessments for industrial energy efficiency technologies, including thin-film solar Cadmium Telluride production process, ethanol production from a fermentation, esterification, and hydrogenation process, high energy-density double layer capacitor (HDLC) technology for solar batteries, an infrared camera system for process energy efficiency monitoring in glass melting furnaces, a thermophotovoltaic electric power generation system using exhaust heat in glass melting furnaces, and a hydro-static transmission system for improved fuel economy in heavy-duty trucks.  CA+A worked directly with the technology inventors funded through US DOE’s Advanced Manufacturing Program.

Biomimicry 3.8 Institute | Ask Nature

With startup funding from Autodesk, CA+A collaborated with Biomimicry 3.8 Institute to launch Ask Nature in 2008. AskNature is the world’s most comprehensive catalog of nature’s solutions to human design challenges. This curated online library features free information on natural phenomena and bio-inspired applications tailored to meet the needs of the people who invent our world. CA+A was the project management firm overseeing all development until launch at USGBC’s Greenbuild 2008.
